Timothy J. Hickey is a Professor of Computer Science at Brandeis University
and is the chair of the Computer Science Department and the Internet Studies Program.
His interests revolve around developing high level programming languages that can be
easily learned by non-programmers while remaining powerful and expressive when
used by experienced programmers. He is the author of dozens of technical papers
on programming language design and implementation and has
been a Principal Investigator on several research projects funded by the
National Science Foundation.
Tim served as the internship instructor from Autumn of 2002, when the project
moved from the Women's Studies program to the Computer Science department after most
of the fact sheet writing was completed. His primary role has been to help the
students learn how to design, build, and maintain the site. This site has been
written from scratch by Brandeis students using the Jscheme programming language
which he has been co-developing since 1997.
